Our Philosophy

Tinana means “body” in te reo Māori, and at the heart of this brand is the understanding that our body is more than just physical—it holds our emotions, our energy, and our stories. For Natasha Rapata, this word is deeply personal. The passing of her grandfather, who embodied her connection to her Māori heritage, ignited a desire to honour culture, ancestry, and the healing wisdom that runs through it. Tinana is both a tribute to him and a way to keep that lineage alive through movement and community.

Tinana by Tasha is built on the belief that healing comes when the mind, body, and spirit are brought into alignment. It blends Pilates, sound healing, and meditation to create a sanctuary where people can regulate their nervous systems, reconnect with themselves, and feel truly present.

This philosophy is especially powerful for those living with hypermobility or ADHD, where nervous system regulation is often a daily challenge. By offering structured, intelligent Pilates alongside calming sound frequencies and meditative practices, Tinana supports people to build strength, stability, and focus—while also finding deep rest, calm, and connection.

At its core, Tinana by Tasha is about:

  • Honouring ancestry and Māori wisdom

  • Creating strength and balance in the body

  • Calming the mind through sound and meditation

  • Holding space for people who feel “different” in their bodies or focus

It is not just a practice, but a philosophy: that through the body, we can heal, connect, and carry forward the values of those who came before us.

Improves attention & concentration

  • Pilates improves concentration by training the mind to focus on breath, alignment, and precise movement in the present moment.
